Default A Hornby Wagon

British AOTW.jpg
As I live about 5,000 miles distant, my purchases of British items
requires a little crossing of fingers and taking deep breaths because
nearly everything is purchased by photograph. My experience of the
Hornby line, however, has been consistently successful.

One such item, purchased from Hatton's (which has proven to be a
delightful and reliable vendor) is this Hornby wagon. I was impressed
by the intricacy of the lettering, down to the reporting marks
("Empty to Nelson's Works, Stockton, N. Rugby), as well as the
exceptionally smooth rolling metal wheels that track perfectly through
the most demanding crossings and turnouts. The narrow couplers were
most reliable and satisfactory in every respect.

It looks like Wrenn, which Dapol took over. Nice wagon.

You can tell it's Dapol because the couplers droop.

Some things improve with age. Nice to revisit old posts

I purchased the Railway modeller magazine this month and there was an article about Hattons and after reading towards the end of the article I couldn’t decide if it was saying that the Company was good to deal with or not and as I haven’t used them it’s good to hear a review

Hattons are fine, 90% of retailers do a very good job. I buy from who ever has what I want at a good price and have never been let down. On some occasions it seems to take for ever for something to arrive but hey, it's something to play with not a pacemaker
