Default New to dcc

Hi all

As I mentioned in my joining post I am returning to modelling after some 40 years and am going to go down the dcc route. Talking to a couple of friends I it has been suggested that I should think about buying a dcc starter set such as Bachmann's surburban set with a e comm ( think that's right) controller. Wonder what others think.

Be careful and fully research the items before spending your hard earned. No1 choice after such research i went for NCE Powercab and have never had any problems.

Flashbang will become famous soon enough

Very basic DCC controller supplied with these sets - Bachmann EZ Command usually.
As suggested, look at the NCE PowerCab as a very good DCC starter set. 130 from Coastal DCC.
Broken? It was working when I left it!

The sets can be good value if you actually want every item that comes in the set but the DCC controllers aren't the best but will get you started. You may be dissatisfied with the controllers after a very short time. The NCE powercab is an excellent starter controller that will do everything you need, which can be upgraded easily, if needed, at a later date.

Do your research before spending any money and try and get your hands on a selection of controllers. Digitrains in Lincoln have a test layout where you can try different controllers side by side and they will give you any advice you need. I'm sure there are other shops around the country where you can try different systems.
If you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say anything.
